The Town of Fogo Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, is seeking qualified auditing professionals or firms to provide annual financial audit services for the fiscal year ending January 31, 2027. The agency requires an external partner to ensure transparency, accountability, and sound financial practices for its community-focused cooperative. The selected auditor must report findings to the General Manager, Director of Finance, and Chair of the Board of Directors, including any non-reportable conditions, irregularities, or illegal acts. The scope of work covers auditing a variety of financial records, including accounting system backups, bank and credit card statements, investment certificates, and board meeting minutes. The auditor must also review invoices for capital additions, analyze booked expenses, examine personnel information such as T4s and new contracts, and review insurance policies and funding agreements. Additionally, the agency requires the auditor to prepare and electronically file all applicable annual tax returns, provide ongoing guidance on taxation and accounting matters, and prepare comprehensive working papers. The auditor must attend the annual general meeting to present and explain the audit findings to the cooperative. The agency is offering a contract period of one year, and the performance of the work will take place offsite. Eligible bidders must be located onshore within Canada. The agency has not disclosed a specific budget and is looking for proposals to define the cost of the services.
