Professional Audit Services

The City of Newport, Rhode Island is seeking a qualified vendor to provide professional audit services for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2026, 2027, and 2028. The agency reserves the option to extend the contract to cover the fiscal years ending June 30, 2029, and June 30, 2030. The selected audit firm must examine and report on financial statements, including the Management’s Discussion and Analysis, the Schedule of Revenues, Expenditures and Changes in Fund Balance, and the Budget and Actual comparisons. The agency requires the senior accountant in charge of the audit fieldwork to be a certified public accountant. The audit organization must maintain an appropriate internal quality control system and participate in an external quality control review program as required by Government Auditing Standards. Bidders must submit a copy of their most recent external quality control review report and agree to provide the results of any subsequent reviews performed during the contract term. Eligibility is restricted to onshore, United States-based organizations. The selected vendor must perform the audit work offsite at the vendor's own office location. The agency has not disclosed a specific budget and is currently looking for proposals to determine the cost of these services.
