Renovation Architect Service

The government authority in Akron, Ohio is seeking a renovation architect to serve as the primary strategic and technical advisor to agency leadership. The agency requires specialized knowledge of law enforcement facility standards, operational workflows, and best practices in public safety space planning to guide their headquarters renovation. This initiative aims to address existing facility deficiencies and optimize space allocations while maintaining continuous agency operations during construction. The scope of work covers facility assessment and programming, space planning, schematic layout development, and phased implementation planning. The selected architect must facilitate structured interviews and workshops with agency command staff, unit supervisors, and frontline personnel to document current and future operational needs. Additionally, the architect must evaluate existing facility conditions, space allocations, adjacencies, and deficiencies relative to contemporary law enforcement standards. The architect must develop a minimum of two alternative space planning concepts showing proposed room arrangements, circulation, and departmental zones. The agency requires an evaluation of each alternative against operational, security, safety, and cost criteria, followed by the refinement of the preferred alternative into a recommended schematic layout. The final deliverables must include a Three-Phase Construction Phasing Plan sequencing work areas, temporary relocations, and swing spaces, along with phase boundary plans and a design criteria and basis of design document to guide future design-build procurement. Eligibility is restricted to onshore USA organizations only. The performance of the architectural work must take place onsite at the agency facility in Akron, Ohio.
