The Department of the Air Force, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division at Eglin Air Force Base, requires a follow-on production contract for the Nuclear Stores Interface Unit. The agency is seeking vendors with the capability to produce this unit to provided specifications and quality standards as a build-to-print manufacturing effort, which will not require hardware installation. This unit is a Line Replaceable Unit that provides an electronic interface to allow communication between the aircraft platform and store, updating connections to meet current MIL-STD-1760 requirements and enhancing nuclear hardness. The current Engineering, Manufacturing and Development effort for the unit was awarded in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. The agency is hosting an Industry Day to share program expectations, outline government requirements, and gather industry feedback on potential courses of action to help develop the production acquisition strategy and acquisition-related documentation. The event will feature briefings, one-on-one engagements, and presentations covering the mission overview, contracting approaches under consideration, and a notional program schedule. The Industry Day will take place on July 15-16, 2026, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The event is free of charge and open to all small and large businesses, though attendance is not mandatory for participating in any future acquisition. The agency anticipates releasing the formal solicitation in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027.
