Optical Vocational Training Services

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, located in Marysville, Ohio, is seeking optical vocational training services for assigned incarcerated workers. The agency requires all training services to be recognized and endorsed by opticians to ensure compliance with and exposure to current industry standards and practices. The selected contractor must provide a certificate of participation to each participant at the completion of the program. The requested scope of work consists of two-day weekend modules on Saturdays and Sundays, with each day providing four to six hours of training. The agency requires six of these two-day weekend modules per year, designed as stand-alone sessions with no prerequisite requirements to attend previous modules. Training topics must cover introduction to vision and eye health, optical concepts and principles, prescription interpretation, optical measurements, lens selection, frame styling lab, frame adjustment, sports and safety eyewear, sunwear and specialty lenses, optical career paths, and career readiness and professional skills. A pool of rotating optical professionals must provide the training to maximize industry exposure for the participants. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency allows offsite performance of the work and accepts digital submission of proposals via email or online.
