Optical Vocational Training Services

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, located in Marysville, Ohio, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide optical vocational training services for incarcerated workers. The agency requires these training services to be recognized and endorsed by opticians to ensure compliance with and exposure to current industry standards and practices. The selected contractor must provide a certificate of participation to each participant at the completion of the program. The scope of work covers six two-day weekend modules per year, with each Saturday and Sunday session providing four to six hours of training. All training modules must function as stand-alone sessions with no prerequisite requirements to attend previous modules. The agency requires a pool of rotating optical professionals to deliver the training to maximize industry exposure for the participants. Training topics must include introduction to vision and eye health, optical concepts and principles, prescription interpretation, optical measurements, lens selection, frame styling lab, frame adjustment, sports and safety eyewear, sunwear and specialty lenses, optical career paths, and career readiness and professional skills. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency will allow the performance of the work to occur offsite, and bidders must submit their proposals digitally via email or online. The agency is looking for budget proposals and has not disclosed a set budget. Bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than June 15, 2026.
