Insurance Consultant Services

The Town of Blacksburg, Virginia is seeking a qualified insurance consultant to assist with securing and evaluating insurance bids for property, casualty, and volunteer insurance. The agency needs to solve the problem of analyzing its current insurance program, developing alternative program structures if necessary, and performing the tabulation and verification of received bids. The selected consultant will work in conjunction with the Finance Director to make recommendations, review specifications, and recommend acceptable offers, coverages, limits, and deductible amounts. The scope of work covers ongoing assistance in related risk management areas, annual reviews of insurance coverage adequacy, and recommendations on policy renewals. The consultant must review all audits, endorsements, and invoices for accuracy, provide an annual budget estimate for all coverages, and recommend techniques to identify current and anticipated loss exposures. Additionally, the agency requires assistance with developing employee communications aimed at reducing workers' compensation and other losses. The contract period will span one year, and the performance of the work will take place offsite. Eligibility is restricted to onshore vendors located within the United States. The agency is looking for proposals to determine the budget, and bidders must submit all questions no later than June 17, 2026.
