Insurance Consultant Services

The Town of Blacksburg, Virginia is seeking a qualified insurance consultant to assist with securing and evaluating insurance bids for property, casualty, and volunteer insurance. The agency needs to solve the problem of analyzing its current insurance program, identifying current and anticipated loss exposures, and ensuring the accuracy of audits, endorsements, and invoices. The selected consultant will review specifications, recommend insurance coverages, limits, and deductible amounts, and perform the tabulation and verification of bids received. The scope of work covers developing alternative insurance program structures, making recommendations in conjunction with the Finance Director, and providing ongoing risk management assistance. The consultant must also review and make annual recommendations on policy renewals and coverage adequacy, assist with employee communications to reduce workers' compensation and other losses, and provide annual budget estimates for all insurance coverages. The contract period will run for one year, and the performance of the work will take place offsite. Eligible bidders must be located onshore within the United States. The agency is looking for proposal submissions to determine the budget for these services. All questions regarding this opportunity must be submitted no later than June 17, 2026.
