Streets Improvement Service

The City of New Britain, Connecticut is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive streets improvement services. The municipality aims to enhance pedestrian safety, implement traffic calming measures, and revitalize the target area using landscaping and placemaking appurtenances. The project spans approximately 2,100 feet along Arch Street, beginning at the intersection of Whiting Street and continuing north to the intersection of Main Street. The requested scope of work covers the construction of new concrete and brick paver sidewalks and sidewalk ramps, curbing, proposed bump outs, and new mid-block crossings. The selected vendor must also perform restriping, install new signage, execute limited drainage improvements, and place brick paver banding. Additional requirements include installing proposed ornamental street lighting, planting street trees, performing minor landscaping, placing new placemaking appurtenances, and making traffic signal improvements at both the Arch Street and Hart/Whiting at Arch intersections. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The performing vendor must execute all project work onsite in New Britain. The agency is currently looking for proposals to establish the budget for this project. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will take place on July 6, 2026.
