Dark Fiber Services

The Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking dark fiber services to establish high-speed network connections and data transfer between district school sites. The agency requires a proposed platform solution that includes all necessary features, functionalities, and accompanying services. The requested fiber handoff must be single mode and capable of supporting 1310nm and 1550nm wavelength bands. The scope of work requires all fiber installations to conform to specific district cabling specifications, namely 25569 Premise Wiring Existing and New Facilities and 25135 Cable Tray. Technical performance standards require field splicing not to exceed 0.3 dB per splice, connectors not to exceed 0.5 dB per mated connector pair, and reflection of less than 35 dB. Attenuation must be 0.25 dB/Km at 1550 nm for clean fiber, with a minimum of greater than 27dB and an optimum desired level of greater than 30dB. The agency limits eligibility to onshore organizations based in the United States. Performance of the work will take place offsite, and bidders may submit their responses digitally via email or online. The agency is looking for proposals to determine the budget and will award a contract for a period of three years. The agency has scheduled a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting for May 27, 2026. Bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than June 4, 2026.
