Food Security Program Service

The government authority located in Washington, DC, is seeking a contractor to provide food security program services for the Micro-Grants Food Security Program. The agency is trying to assist agricultural departments in eligible states and territories to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food in food-insecure communities that import significant quantities of food. The program aims to support these entities through the competitive distribution of subawards for small-scale gardening, herding, and livestock operations. The scope of work requires the contractor to support the competitive distribution of subawards to increase food availability and create or expand avenues for selling local food commodities, specialty crops, and meats. The project covers purchasing gardening tools, equipment, soil, seeds, plants, canning equipment, refrigeration, and other items necessary to grow and store food. Additionally, the work involves promoting climate-resilient landscapes and rural economic systems, shipping purchased items for local food consumption, and supporting food security organizations like religious groups, food banks, and food pantries. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based solely in the United States. The agency allows the performance of the work to be conducted either onsite or offsite. The contract period will span four years, and the agency is currently looking for proposals to determine the budget.
