RFI for Next Generation Fare Collection System

The issuing agency is seeking information to define its next-generation Automated Fare Collection system over the next fifteen years. The agency needs to assess alternatives to the current PRESTO fare collection model and validate market cost structures to identify opportunities for reducing overall fare collection costs. Additionally, the agency wants to understand complementary fare collection systems, technology and architecture trends, implementation timelines, risks, and potential governance and delivery models. The scope of work involves providing information and strategies to inform future procurement options for systems that could be implemented fully or in part alongside other fare collection systems. The performance of this informational work will occur offsite. The agency is looking for proposals to understand pricing models, and interested parties must submit all questions no later than July 3, 2026. Eligibility is restricted to Canadian organizations operating onshore. Respondents may submit their responses digitally via email or through an online portal. The agency has not disclosed a specific budget and is looking for proposals to understand market cost structures.
