Maintenance and Operation Regional Motorist Aid Call Box System

The San Diego Association of Governments is seeking a contractor to provide extensive, year-round maintenance, operations, and related fieldwork for the regional motorist aid call box system. The agency requires this work to ensure the proper functioning and appearance of all call boxes within the system. To manage these efforts, the agency requires a computerized maintenance system to notify the contractor of needed repairs and to view, track, and record every completed repair. The contractor must maintain an electronic call box system database containing general call box information, maintenance history, updated site photos, and copies of work orders. The agency requires the contractor to furnish all necessary digital cameras, GPS devices, and other equipment to populate this database. The call box motorist aid systems must support full duplex voice communications between motorists and dispatchers, utilizing normal telephone handset operation. The computerized system must track call box maintenance data, including exception reports that list call boxes failing to complete scheduled daily call-ins along with the corresponding alarm codes. The agency is limiting eligibility to onshore contractors located within the United States, and the performance of the work will take place offsite. The agency has established a budget of up to 4,500,000 USD for a contract period of five years. The agency will host a pre-bid meeting on June 17, 2026, to discuss the project requirements. Bidders must submit all questions regarding the solicitation no later than June 22, 2026. The agency allows proposal responses to be submitted digitally via email or online.
