Interior and Exterior Cabling Services

The City of Portland, Oregon is seeking a vendor to provide interior and exterior cabling services to repair a damaged 96-strand fiber optic cable inside a buried conduit at a construction site. The selected contractor will perform fusion splicing, termination, testing, maintenance, and emergency restoration and repair of the municipal fiber optic cable at various locations under the direction of City Project Managers. All work must be performed onsite in Oregon. The agency requires the replacement fiber optic cable to have a life expectancy of at least 30 years and withstand water penetration when tested with a one-meter static head or equivalent continuous pressure applied at one end of a one-meter length of filled cable for one hour. The finished cables must also possess a crush resistance of 220 N/cm (126 lbf/in) applied uniformly over the length of the cable without showing evidence of cracking or splitting when tested in accordance with TIA/EIA-455-25C, FOTP-25. Additionally, the cable must not exhibit any measurable increase in attenuation after the removal of the load. Eligibility is restricted to onshore organizations based in the United States.
