Dark Fiber Services

The Los Angeles Unified School District is seeking dark fiber services to establish high-speed network connections and data transfers between its school sites. The agency requires a platform solution that includes specific features, functionalities, and accompanying services to solve its connectivity needs. The proposed fiber handoff must be single mode and capable of supporting 1310nm and 1550nm wavelength bands. The scope of work requires all fiber installations to conform to LAUSD cabling specifications 25569 Premise Wiring Existing and New Facilities, and 25135 Cable Tray. Technical performance standards require field splicing not to exceed 0.3 dB per splice, connectors not to exceed 0.5 dB per mated connector pair, and reflection of less than 35 dB. Attenuation must be 0.25 dB/Km at 1550 nm for clean fiber, with a minimum of greater than 27dB and an optimum desired level of greater than 30dB. Only United States organizations are eligible to bid on this opportunity. The selected provider will perform the work offsite over a contract period of three years. The agency is looking for proposals to determine the budget and will accept digital submissions via email or online. The agency will host a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting on May 27, 2026. Bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than June 4, 2026.
