Escalator Cleaning Service

The Valley Metro regional transit authority in Phoenix, Arizona requires professional escalator cleaning services to maintain its facilities. The agency is seeking a qualified contractor to perform deep-cleaning operations that remove embedded soils, stains, overspray, residue, and standing water from escalator steps, risers, base plates, side panels, and metal trim. This project aims to restore and maintain the appearance and safety of the transit escalators while preventing moisture intrusion into the mechanical components. The scope of work requires the contractor to provide and operate an industrial escalator deep-cleaning machine, such as a Rotomac, Hydramaster, or equivalent, as standard custodial floor machines are not acceptable. Personnel must apply biodegradable cleaning solutions to steps and risers, use specialized brushes and pads designed for escalator grooves, and utilize a vacuum extraction system with a sealed holding tank to capture wastewater. The contractor must also section off work areas with barricades and signage, protect adjacent surfaces, and provide an on-site supervisor during all cleaning operations. Bidders must be onshore entities based in the United States, and all work must be performed onsite at the designated Phoenix locations. The agency requires the contractor to ensure all personnel wear uniforms and visible identification badges during service delivery. Additionally, the contractor must collect and dispose of all wastewater and debris in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The agency is awarding a contract with a performance period of five years. The budget for this project will be determined based on the submitted proposals. The agency will host a pre-bid meeting on June 24, 2026, and bidders must submit all questions regarding the opportunity no later than July 1, 2026.
