RFI for Artemis IV Alternate Communication System

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is seeking information for an alternate communication system for the Artemis IV mission in Texas. The agency is trying to solve communication challenges during the Artemis IV lunar orbit, where the Orion spacecraft's primary communication system cannot support high-rate streaming of live 4K imagery. To resolve this issue, the agency requires a system capable of providing near-continuous communication with a return link of at least twelve megabits per second while operating in a lunar orbit. The scope of work covers the performance of all tasks offsite. Eligible respondents must be onshore United States organizations only. The agency is currently looking for proposals to determine the budget and has not disclosed a specific funding limit or key dates in the initial request.
