RFI for Laboratory Information Management Systems

The issuing agency is seeking information to understand vendor capabilities and industry best practices regarding Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). This Request for Information (RFI) aims to identify architectural, functional, and non-functional considerations to inform the agency's future planning, budget, and potential procurement activities. The agency requires a LIMS solution that provides end-to-end laboratory operations and functional requirements. The scope of work covers multiple core laboratory functions, including sample identification, login, labeling, test assignment, tracking, and full lifecycle management. The requested system must handle test execution, procedures, data entry, calculations, limits management, and result management. Additionally, the agency requires capabilities for quality control, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, workflow configuration, scheduling, work assignment, and bench sheet management. The system must also manage reagents and chemicals, track equipment, and handle calibration and maintenance management. For security and administration, the agency requires user roles, role-based access control, approvals, data locking, retention policies, and auditability. Finally, the solution must feature external client portals, communication tools, reporting, dashboards, visualization, and business intelligence capabilities. Eligibility is restricted to onshore organizations based in Canada. The performance of the work will take place offsite, and respondents can submit their responses digitally via email or online. The agency is looking for proposals to understand budget considerations, and all questions regarding this request must be submitted no later than June 26, 2026.
