Wi-Fi Survey and Wireless Assessment Services

The Capital Region Airport Commission in Richmond, Virginia is seeking professional Wi-Fi survey and wireless assessment services to evaluate its existing wireless coverage, performance, interference, and infrastructure conditions. The agency needs this assessment to support future wireless optimization, operational reliability, passenger connectivity, and long-term infrastructure planning. The selected contractor must perform predictive, passive, and active wireless surveys throughout designated airport facilities and operational areas. The scope of work requires the evaluation and documentation of specific technical performance conditions. The agency requires signal strength validation for passenger and operational areas, signal-to-noise ratio analysis, interference identification, and capacity and client density analysis in high-occupancy environments. The assessment must also cover wireless roaming and handoff testing for mobile operational users, alongside the identification of dead zones, weak coverage areas, and performance deficiencies. The agency requires several specific deliverables, including a comprehensive final report with wireless heat maps for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and, if applicable, 6 GHz coverage. The report must document identified coverage deficiencies, interference sources, recommended wireless access point locations, and infrastructure improvements. Additionally, the agency requires photos and notes identifying mounting locations, cabling pathways, power availability, a bill of materials for recommended hardware, and an executive summary of findings with prioritized recommendations. The contractor must provide all labor, software, testing equipment, transportation, and materials necessary to perform the services. All services must be coordinated in advance with Commission staff and performed during Commission business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved. The agency is issuing this contract for a period of one year. Eligibility is limited to onshore vendors located within the United States. Although the work performance will be offsite, the physical surveys must take place at the designated airport facilities in Richmond, Virginia. The agency has not disclosed a specific budget and is looking for proposals to determine the cost.
