Biohazard and Sharps Cleanup Services

The Regional Transit Authority in New Orleans, Louisiana is seeking a vendor to provide biohazard and sharps cleanup services for various locations. The agency needs to solve the problem of hazardous material accumulation and large-scale needle presence to ensure safety across its transit network. To facilitate rapid and proper response to cleanup calls, the agency requires the selected vendor to maintain a phone number that is checked regularly throughout the day and night. This contact number must be a cell phone, a live answering service, or an office phone staffed twenty-four hours per day. The scope of work covers the deployment of properly trained and vaccinated individuals to perform hazardous material cleanup and large-scale needle pickup. The vendor must properly dispose of all collected hazardous material in accordance with safety regulations. The agency establishes strict response times based on the severity of the cleanup request. Specifically, the service provider must respond within two hours for any incident that places a transit vehicle out of service or requires a stop closure. For incidents in public-facing areas that can be isolated without disrupting transit service, the agency requires a response within four hours. Non-emergency cleanup requests must be addressed within twenty-four hours. To be eligible for this contract, the bidding organization must be located onshore within the United States. All performance of the contracted work will take place onsite at the designated locations in New Orleans. The agency is looking for proposals to determine the budget for these services.
