Employee Background Verification Services

The City of Austin, Texas, is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive employee background verification services for its current and potential employees. The agency requires a web-based submission and reporting system to manage an anticipated volume of approximately 1,250 applicant verifications on an annual basis. This system will help the agency streamline its hiring process and ensure thorough vetting of all candidates. The scope of work covers applicant background checks including employment verification, motor vehicle reports, criminal history, credit checks, and highest degree education verification. The selected vendor must also perform Social Security verification and reviews, Sexual Offender Registry checks, and social media reports. For employment verifications, the agency requires the verification of up to three employers at a time, capturing the job title, dates of employment, reason for leaving, and eligibility for rehire. Eligibility is restricted to onshore, United States-based organizations only. Although the reporting system must be web-based, the agency requires the performance of the work to be onsite in Texas. Bidders must provide pricing per state, which must include all applicable fees. The agency is currently looking for proposals to determine the budget for this initiative. The contract period will span one year from the date of award. Bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than July 7, 2026.
