Indigent Defense Specialty Attorneys Service

The Utah-based government authority is seeking indigent defense specialty attorneys to handle high-level criminal cases. The designated attorney or attorneys will manage caseloads involving homicides, first-degree felony level sex offenses, and patterns of unlawful activity. While other indigent defense attorneys will initially receive these cases during law and motion calendars, the specialty attorneys will assume representation to ensure dedicated expertise for these complex matters. The scope of work spans from the initial appearance through final case resolution. Assigned attorneys must review evidence, communicate with defendants, and provide competent legal counsel. Responsibilities also include attending all hearings, filing necessary motions, representing defendants at trial, and filing notices of appeal if required. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency allows the performance of all legal work to occur offsite. Bidders may submit their proposals digitally via email or through the online portal. The agency is currently looking for proposals to determine the budget and has not disclosed a set funding limit.
