Sign Language Interpreter Services

The University is seeking a contractor to provide sign language interpreting and transliterating services on an as-needed basis. The Learning Access Program requires these services to support deaf and hard of hearing students, historically averaging one or two students per academic year. The agency needs to solve the challenge of variable and uncertain student enrollment from semester to semester, which directly dictates the volume of services required. The scope of work covers academic interpreting and transliteration, historically averaging 20 to 30 hours per week primarily during the academic school year from September through December and January through May. Assignments lasting over one hour generally require a two-person team, with each interpreter signing for approximately 20 minutes, though independent interpreting may be required for some assignments. The agency will pay the contractor on a per-hour basis with a two-hour minimum, treating classes booked with at least a one-hour break as separate assignments. Eligibility is restricted to onshore organizations based in the United States. The work will be performed offsite. Continued utilization of the contractor is contingent upon the ongoing needs of campus constituents and satisfactory performance evaluations from students, peers, and the program. The agency is looking for proposals to establish budget and pricing details. The contract period will span one year.
