The Town of North Hempstead is seeking a qualified contractor to provide routine and emergency veterinary services for canine animals assigned to or in the care of its Animal Shelter in Manhasset, New York. The agency requires a licensed veterinary clinic located within ten miles of the shelter to supervise and oversee general health programs for approximately 150 to 300 canines annually. The selected provider must resolve the shelter's need for comprehensive medical oversight, which includes consultations, office visits, surgeries, euthanasia, and assistance in developing medical treatment procedures. The scope of work requires the veterinarian to be available for consultations and services during normal working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The contractor must also spend up to four hours per week on-site at the Animal Shelter to perform health examinations on new arrivals. Additionally, the clinic must possess the capability to treat non-canine mammals, birds, and reptiles on occasion, and perform sick and injured animal care to allow animals to be claimed by their owners. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States and possess demonstrated experience in veterinary services. The agency is looking for proposals to establish the budget for these services.
