Seabed Mapping, Exploration and Characterization Services

The agency is seeking seabed mapping, exploration, and characterization services. This initiative aims to diversify critical mineral sources, support responsible resource development by partners, and encourage private sector investment that establishes high standards for operational excellence and environmental review. The project covers conducting ocean mapping, seabed exploration, and characterization activities in priority continental shelf areas. The work involves generating scientific data to enable the evaluation of private sector seabed mineral development applications. It also includes characterizing seabed resources to provide accurate, timely, and high-quality data on mineral deposit location, extent, and composition for informed regulatory decision-making. Environmental studies will be conducted to support responsible seabed mineral management, providing baseline data for assessing private sector applications and meeting applicable standards. The services will also strengthen government capacity to assess, approve, and oversee private sector seabed exploration applications, facilitating timely resource management decisions. Eligibility for bidders is restricted to onshore United States entities only. Performance of the work will occur onsite. Responses can be submitted digitally via email or online.
