The government authority located in Charleston, WV, requires a vendor to provide veterinary services as the Regulatory Veterinarian. The selected vendor must possess expertise to assess the competitive fitness of racehorses through direct health examinations, conduct pre-race exams, perform live race card duties, oversee test-barn operations, and manage urine or blood sampling for chemical analysis. Additional responsibilities include determining when a horse comes off the Vet List, treating on-track emergencies during live races, maintaining treatment and performance records, fulfilling reporting requirements, and acting as a liaison among racing and state or federal officials.
