Transforming Science and Energy Service with AI

The agency is seeking a vendor to transform science and energy services using agentic and generative artificial intelligence. The project aims to solve complex scientific challenges by navigating multi-scale, high-dimensional dynamic systems to uncover hidden relationships, identify new manufacturing routes, and enable end-to-end digital transformation of industrial manufacturing. This digital transformation requires integrating real-time data from machines, products, processes, and supply chains into manufacturing digital twins for continuous human-in-the-loop automated decision support. The scope of work is divided into two distinct phases over a one-year contract period. In Phase I, teams must design and demonstrate a tangible research workflow incorporating artificial intelligence, accompanied by a concrete evaluation of the potential for artificial intelligence advantage. Success in this initial phase includes demonstrating increased predictive power, tighter coupling of data and experiments, building new models to speed up discovery, identifying scaling metrics, or improving experimental workflows through automation. During Phase II, meritorious Phase I teams and new Phase II teams will pursue the promising directions identified during the first phase. Consortium members intend to contribute computing power, artificial intelligence tokens, technical expertise, and in-kind support to advance the agency goals. Bidders must perform all work offsite and must be located onshore within the United States. The agency has not disclosed a set budget and is looking for proposals to define the financial parameters.
