Swale Mowing Services

The City of Santa Clara, California is seeking a contractor to provide swale mowing services to restore the flood protection purpose of its drainage swales. The selected contractor must cut overgrown tale, cattails, and other vegetation down to a height of four to six inches and remove all cut debris. To protect nesting wildlife, the mowing services must start after September 1, following the end of the burrowing owl breeding season, and must be completed by October 31 of each calendar year. The scope of work requires the contractor to inspect all sites to ensure the removal of foreign objects before mowing begins. The contractor must also repair or replace, at their own expense, any physical improvements such as irrigation systems, landscaping, fences, mailboxes, and signs damaged during the activities. Additionally, the contractor must provide a 48 to 72-hour notice to the City’s Storm and Drain Supervisor and designated Maintenance Worker before starting the project. The contract period spans one year, and all performance of the work must occur onsite. Eligibility is restricted to onshore contractors located within the United States. The agency is looking for budget proposals to determine the cost of the contract. Interested parties must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than May 27, 2026. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 3, 2026.
