School District Physician Services

The East Orange School District in New Jersey is seeking a qualified vendor to provide comprehensive school district physician services. The district requires professional consultation to assist in developing and implementing school policies, procedures, and mechanisms related to health, safety, and medical emergencies. Additionally, the selected physician must provide consultation to school medical staff regarding the delivery of health services, specifically addressing the needs of technology-supported and medically fragile students. The scope of work includes conducting physical examinations for students who lack a medical home or whose parents have designated the school as their medical home for sports physicals. These examinations must take place in the physician's office or a comparably equipped facility. Following these exams, the physician must provide written notification to parents approving or disapproving the student's participation in athletics based on the medical report. The selected provider will assist certified and non-certified school nurses with health screenings for students and staff, as well as aid in the general delivery of school health services. The physician is also responsible for reviewing, approving, or denying medical home determinations regarding a student's anticipated confinement and subsequent need for home instruction. This responsibility includes reviewing, approving, or disapproving home instruction recommendations made by a student's personal physician. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The district requires the performance of these medical services to be conducted offsite. The district has not disclosed a set budget and is looking for proposals to determine the cost of these services.
