General Legal Counsel Services

The Housing Authority of the City of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, is seeking a duly qualified attorney to act as general legal counsel for all legal matters arising in connection with the business and management of its various housing programs. The agency needs this legal representation to ensure the legality of its operations, contracts, and board actions. The selected attorney will handle ordinary legal questions, manage legal issues arising under contracts, and supervise the legality of the official minutes. The scope of work requires the attorney to attend all board meetings as well as meetings with staff or board members upon the request of the board or the executive director. Additionally, the attorney must review and approve the legality of all contracts and associated payments. The legal counsel will also be responsible for instituting and successfully concluding actions in courts of original jurisdiction for the recovery of possession of dwelling units. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency is requesting proposals to determine the budget for these services, and the work will be performed offsite. The contract period for these general legal counsel services will be for one year.
