Household Hazardous Waste Event Service

The Township is seeking a prime contractor to manage and execute a highly popular, two-day Household Hazardous Waste event. This event provides residents with a free, convenient drive-through option to responsibly dispose of household hazardous waste, both covered and not covered by provincial Extended Producer Responsibility programs. The selected contractor will solve the logistical challenge of managing a high-volume event that saw nearly 1,200 vehicles in 2025, requiring staff to unload vehicles at multiple waste-specific stations. The scope of work covers overall event management, including directing staff, Product Care, and other onsite organizations designated by the Township. The contractor must handle all event planning, setup, tarping, tenting, collection, resident identification checks, lab packing, provision of personal protective equipment, site cleanup, spill response, transportation, and disposal. Required deliverables also include attending a kick-off meeting, a pre-event expectation meeting, and producing a comprehensive post-event report detailing waste streams, vehicle counts, diversion tonnages, and recommendations for future improvements. Bidders must be Canadian organizations and possess over twenty years of experience providing household hazardous waste event services. The performance of the contract work will take place offsite, and the Township is currently looking for budget proposals to determine the cost of the event.
