General Management, Animal Care and Operation Services

The City of Santa Fe Springs, California is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive aviary management, animal care, operational oversight, and educational programming services. The agency requires these services to ensure the Aviary operates as a safe, humane, compliant, and engaging community asset. The selected partner will manage the daily operations, animal husbandry, veterinary care, collection planning, and safety protocols for the facility. The scope of work covers daily inspections of the Aviary and the birds, continuous access to clean water, and daily observations of bird health, behavior, and environmental conditions. The contractor must clean and sanitize enclosures, perches, and feeding areas daily, alongside removing waste, debris, and uneaten food. The agency requires the contractor to maintain electronic animal inventory logs, health and veterinary records, feeding schedules, and species inventory lists. The contractor must provide daily feeding with nutritionally appropriate diets specific to each species, with all food, supplies, and enrichment materials provided at the contractor's own expense. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency expects the performance of the work to occur offsite. The contract period will span three years, and the agency is currently looking for budget proposals to determine the cost of services.
