Public Safety Labor Attorney Services

The City of San Fernando, California, is seeking a qualified onshore legal firm to provide specialized public safety labor attorney services. The agency needs expert legal counsel to navigate complex police department employment matters, disciplinary actions, and procedural due process rights. This initiative aims to ensure full compliance with the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights and various federal, state, and local employment laws. The selected attorney will advise agency management on labor relations, collective bargaining, and the drafting and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. The scope of work includes representing the agency in labor disputes, grievances, and arbitrations, as well as reviewing and updating employee handbooks, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the attorney will conduct or oversee independent investigations into misconduct, harassment, or discrimination complaints. The agency also requires guidance on fair labor standards, overtime laws, pay equity, and payroll tax practices. The attorney will conduct audits to ensure wage compliance and handle employment litigation and dispute resolution.
