Alumni Magazine Services

The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, a government authority located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive alumni magazine services. The agency needs to produce a high-quality publication with a circulation of approximately 15,000 copies to engage its alumni community. The selected vendor will solve the agency's need for professional editorial direction, graphic design, and print preparation services. The scope of work covers developing the overall theme and editorial direction for each issue, as well as maintaining the Academy brand and style standards. The vendor must layout and present two to three preliminary design directions for the cover and the feature story, then design the magazine in line with the existing template. Additional responsibilities include collecting and managing production-ready artwork, preparing production-ready files for the printer, and archiving all design and production files. The agency requires the vendor to draft print specifications, including paper recommendations, review up to two rounds of press proofs, and supervise press checks during printing. The finished magazine must measure 8.5 by 11 inches, with page length options of either 32 pages plus covers or 36 pages plus covers. Printing specifications require four-color printing throughout with full bleeds, utilizing 80-pound gloss text for inside pages and 80-pound gloss cover paper. The agency allows the vendor to propose either saddle-stitch or perfect binding. Eligibility is strictly limited to onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency expects the performance of the work to take place offsite. The agency has not disclosed a set budget and is looking for cost proposals from bidders.
