The Douglas County District Court in Washington is seeking professional legal services to manage its misdemeanor caseload. The agency requires a qualified attorney to handle District Court misdemeanor matters, including show cause hearings, probation violations, sentence modification hearings, gross misdemeanors, and appeals of District Court rulings in the Superior Court. This legal representation is necessary to ensure the efficient administration of justice and the timely resolution of the court's ongoing caseload. The scope of work requires the attorney to prepare for and manage dockets on Tuesdays for up to six hours and on Wednesday afternoons for approximately one to two hours. The attorney must also prepare for and manage trials, when scheduled, on alternate Thursdays and Fridays depending on the week. The selected attorney will manage an approximate volume of one hundred twenty open cases at any given time, with typical dockets consisting of twenty to thirty cases on Tuesdays and six to seven cases on Wednesdays. Eligible bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency will allow the performance of the work to be conducted offsite. The contract period will span a duration of one year, and the agency is currently seeking budget proposals from interested parties to determine the cost of these services.
