Medical Bill Review Service

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity is seeking a vendor to provide a medical bill review service. The agency requires a health care review program that complies with MCL 418.315 of the Workers’ Disability Compensation Act and Health Care Services rules. This program must resolve the challenge of managing complex workers' compensation medical bills, ensuring cost-containment and regulatory compliance. The scope of work requires a professional program to review medical bills for in-patient hospital care, cases where total claim medical payments exceed twenty thousand dollars, and any cases with suspected inappropriate care. Licensed, registered, or certified health care professionals must review these bills or develop the criteria used by others for the reviews. These licensed professionals must also handle reconsideration requests from medical providers. For any bills with a date of service prior to the date of injury, the vendor must contact the agency's technician directly to confirm the date of injury and facilitate timely payment. Eligibility is restricted to onshore organizations based in the United States. The agency requires all performance of the work to occur offsite. Bidders must submit their proposals digitally via email or through the online portal. The agency is looking for budget proposals and has not disclosed a specific funding limit.
