Historian and Architectural Survey Consultant Services

The City of Columbia, Missouri, is seeking a qualified historian and architectural survey consultant to conduct a reconnaissance-level architectural survey. The agency needs to document the existing historic character and conditions of each property within a designated survey area to support its preservation planning efforts. This project aims to establish a clear historic context for the development of the area and to identify future preservation needs. The scope of work requires the selected consultant to evaluate properties for National Register of Historic Places eligibility and provide recommendations for future preservation activities, including additional surveys. The consultant must also facilitate and document two public information meetings, providing evidence such as press releases, newspaper or web advertisements, and attendee sign-in sheets. All project work will be performed offsite, away from the agency's physical offices. Eligibility is strictly limited to organizations based onshore within the United States. The agency has not disclosed a specific budget and is seeking cost proposals from interested bidders to determine the financial scope. Bidders must submit all clarifying questions regarding this opportunity no later than July 1, 2026.
