The Poughkeepsie City School District requires a qualified law firm to provide general counsel and labor relations legal services. The requested scope includes serving as chief legal advisor to the board of education and administrative staff, reviewing board agendas and minutes, attending meetings, providing daily consultation, providing annual status reports, cooperating with the insurance carrier, and handling labor management, negotiations, student discipline, special education, employment law, and appeals. USA organizations are eligible to bid, and the work will be performed offsite. Bidders must submit proposals via mail or hand delivery to the District Clerk by 2:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026. Bidders selected to present to the Board of Education will be notified by October 30, 2026, and must furnish eight proposal copies. The contract term runs from January 1, 2027, through June 30, 2027. The Board of Education will evaluate proposals based on the proposer's qualifications, cost, and compliance with district requirements to select the best combination of attributes rather than solely the lowest cost. Bidders must submit a total flat annual fee/retainer and a standard fee schedule, while the district notes its overall 2026–2027 budget is $156,908,757.
