Graphic Designer Service for the great divorce book

The Missouri Historical Society Press seeks a graphic designer to lay out a 6” x 9” paperback book on the Great Divorce of St. Louis City and County and design its cover. The scope requires creating two to three samples of cover designs and interior layouts for approximately 352 pages with 50 black-and-white images, participating in meetings, inserting proofreader and author corrections, and delivering packaged InDesign files, links, and PDFs. Only USA organizations performing offsite work are eligible to bid, with evaluation preference given to local St. Louis firms and certified minority- or women-owned businesses. Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, portfolio samples, references, and an estimated fee by November 13, 2026, via email or mail to Lauren Mitchell. The selection process evaluates project approach (25%), ability to meet timeframes (25%), book design experience (20%), cost (20%), local preference (5%), and minority- or women-owned business certification (5%). The designer selection occurs December 1, 2026, with work starting January 4, 2027, and final updates running through August 6, 2027.
