Scrap Metal Recycling Services

The Lexington County government authority in South Carolina requires scrap metal recycling services at its landfill. The agency needs a contractor to process, package, and transport white goods and miscellaneous scrap metal from the landfill to an offsite recycling facility. This service will occur on an as-needed basis depending on the volume of material collected at the landfill. The selected contractor must provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to handle the scrap metal and white goods, including items containing refrigerant such as refrigerators, freezers, window air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. The agency also requires the contractor to manage debris or other non-recyclable materials that are mixed in with the scrap metal. Additionally, the contractor must provide electronic data reporting to help the county meet its monthly and annual reporting requirements. The required electronic data must include metal gross weight, container tare weight, net weight, the number of monthly loads received, and documentation of proper disposal for special waste. To be eligible for this contract, the bidding organization must be located within the United States, and all work must be performed offsite at the contractor's facility. The agency is currently seeking proposals to determine the budget, and bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than June 4, 2026.
