Household Hazardous Waste Event Services

The City of Unalaska, Alaska, is seeking a qualified vendor to provide household hazardous waste event services. The agency is attempting to increase public awareness regarding what constitutes household hazardous waste, educate the public on proper disposal methods, and provide a safe collection event. This program aims to prevent the potential dangers associated with improper disposal by offering residents a convenient facility to bring materials for recycling, reuse, treatment, or disposal. The scope of work covers the collection, packaging, lawful transportation, recordkeeping, reporting, and final disposal of household hazardous waste at a permitted facility. The vendor must conduct the collection event rain or shine, handling as much waste as budget and participation allow during the event. All performance of the work will occur offsite, and the resulting contract will span a three-year period. Bidders must be onshore organizations based in the United States to be eligible for this opportunity. The agency is currently looking for proposals to establish the budget and has not disclosed a specific funding limit. A pre-submittal conference is scheduled for June 5, 2026, to address questions regarding the event requirements.
