Recycling Processing Services

The City of Auburn, Alabama is seeking a qualified vendor to provide recycling processing services for its municipal solid waste and recycling program. The selected processor must receive, process, market, and manage recyclable commodities generated through the city's weekly collection system. This program provides once-a-week pick-up of household garbage, yard trash, and recycling to local residents. The designated processor must maintain a properly permitted recycling processing facility and transfer station that complies with all federal, state, and local regulations. The facility must accept loose, commingled recyclable materials delivered by city personnel and equipment Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. The facility must also feature certified scales that meet all Alabama weights and measures requirements. The scope of accepted materials covers fiber products including corrugated cardboard and mixed paper, alongside newspapers. Acceptable plastics include plastic jugs and food-grade plastic containers, while acceptable metals include aluminum beverage cans and steel food cans. The agency explicitly excludes glass bottles, glass containers, and hazardous waste from this processing scope. The agency is establishing a contract period of three years for these services. Eligible bidders must be onshore United States organizations, and the work will be performed offsite at the vendor's facility.
