Lime Sludge Excavation, Hauling and Disposal Services

The City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa is seeking a contractor to provide lime sludge excavation, hauling, and disposal services. The agency needs to remove approximately 50,000 tons of lime sludge annually from its dewatering lagoons. The estimated depth of the lime sludge in a lagoon is 4.25 feet, ranging from no sludge at the southern edge to approximately 8.5 feet at the deepest northern edge. The selected contractor must provide and maintain a vehicle or loader-mounted scale and submit current calibration data to city staff. The agency will make payments at the unit rate based on acceptable weigh tickets, which the contractor must submit with invoices. The city makes no guarantee regarding the actual quantity of sludge, and actual quantities will serve as the basis for payment. Bidders must be onshore United States organizations to be eligible for this opportunity. The performance of the work will occur offsite, and the contractor must carry out work in their own office location. The agency is currently looking for proposals to establish the budget for these services. All questions regarding this opportunity must be submitted no later than June 16, 2026.
