Remove, Destroy and Dispose of an Excavator Service

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is seeking a contractor to remove, destroy, and dispose of an excavator located in West Columbia, South Carolina. The agency requires the complete extraction of all pieces and parts of the excavator to ensure safe transport to a drydock. Once the excavator reaches the drydock, the contractor must handle its complete demolition and disposal. The scope of work requires the provision of a tug, cranes, or both, capable of removing the excavator in whole or in pieces. If the recovery process requires underwater operations, the contractor must provide a fully insured commercial dive company that complies with all OSHA standards. The contract period for these services will span one year, and the performance of the work will take place offsite. Eligible bidders must be onshore entities based in the United States. Bidders must hold a General Marine Liability Insurance Policy of no less than five million dollars, a United States Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act policy, and a Protection and Indemnity Policy covering the crew. The Protection and Indemnity Policy must specifically include Jones Act coverage for the crew, wreck removal, and tower's liability. The agency is currently looking for proposals to determine the budget for this project. Bidders must submit all questions regarding this opportunity no later than June 23, 2026.
