The Air Force Research Laboratory Space Warfare Directorate requires access, equipment facility operators, and administrative support to use a cyclotron for continuous 40-hour blocks over designated weeks. The program objective is to conduct proton irradiation experiments to characterize and qualify the radiation tolerance of state-of-the-art infrared detectors, focal plane arrays, discrete semiconductor devices, and sensing materials for space operations. The U.S. Government currently intends to award a sole-source contract to the University of California, Davis for rental of its Crocker Nuclear Laboratory cyclotron. Interested parties who possess the capability to meet the technical facility requirements may submit a statement of interest on company letterhead, not to exceed three pages. This sources sought notice is strictly for market research and planning purposes to determine if the acquisition can be competed, and no formal solicitation or request for proposal currently exists.
