Forensic Pathology Services

San Bernardino County requires a vendor to provide forensic pathology services for a one-year contract period. The selected vendor must conduct complete and timely external and internal postmortem autopsy examinations, make determinations of the circumstances, manner, and cause of death for in-custody deaths, and perform necessary toxicological, chemical, or bacteriological tests. The vendor must ensure death certificate entries match their determinations, prepare timely pathology reports, submit a signed autopsy protocol within ninety days of an autopsy, and provide court testimony regarding their work and findings. The buyer limits eligibility to US organizations and requires onsite performance. Only licensed physicians and surgeons may conduct forensic autopsies and determine their results.
