Autopsy Services

The County of Westmoreland requests proposals for autopsy, forensic autopsy, and pathology services to assist the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office in determining cause and manner of death. The selected vendor must perform complete medical-legal autopsies onsite at the Westmoreland County Forensic Center in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, within 24–32 hours of notification. Duties include providing gross and microscopic diagnoses, court testimony, surgical instruments, personal protective equipment, transportation, and biochemical or biohazard waste removal at the vendor's expense. To be eligible, onshore USA-only vendors must submit proof of insurance and certify they are not currently suspended or debarred by Pennsylvania or the federal government. Bidders must engage licensed personnel, submit copies of professional licenses and background checks, and conduct drug screenings before assigning staff. Bidders must submit sealed proposals to the Office of the Westmoreland County Controller by 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The buyer will hold a pre-bid meeting on October 7, 2026, and sets a question deadline of October 16, 2026. The contract term is for one year, and the buyer reserves the right to negotiate final terms, including cost.
