City of Union City Request for Qualifications for BART Transit Column Mural Project

The City of Union City is issuing a Request for Qualifications to establish a qualified mural artist vendor pool and select an artist or artist team under a professional services agreement for the BART Transit Column Mural Project. The selected vendor must develop a work plan, timeline, budget, conceptual designs, and fabricate and install artwork drawing from community engagement themes for up to 10 BART columns. Onshore USA applicants with relevant public-facing artwork experience, including lead artist portfolios and professional references, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted digitally by 12:00 p.m. Noon on Monday, November 30, 2026. Submissions will be evaluated using a 100-point rubric based on artistic experience, technical capacity, visual impact, originality, and submitted project materials. Applicants scoring 75 points or higher will be invited to submit a detailed design proposal and project budget, with $2,000 stipends provided to RFP participants. The total allocated project budget is up to $150,000.
